NBC has announced via the Wall Street Journal that they will be broadcasting a 2v2 $100,000 USD Rocket League tournament on their network next month as part of a partnership with NBC Sports, Faceit, and Psyonix.

The qualifiers begin in July and the tournament itself will begin on regional NBC Sports channels in August, with the closing stages being shown on the main NBC Sports channel in a number of countries.

NBC Sports Ventures' senior vice president Rob Simmelkjaer said that esports had become too big to ignore, hence their move to broadcast the tournament, and Rocket League is one of the biggest, its ongoing Championship Series hosting major events with top teams.

Do you think esports is at the level where it should be on television networks?
