There's a brand new Legend of Zelda title coming to 3DS later this year, Nintendo has announced.

The new, currently un-subtitled game is set in the Link to the Past time frame, and like the SNES title plays with a classic top-down view on the action. The company stated that the 3D would be used to judge vertical jumps as new dungeons would be multi-layered.

it's the same time frame, but it's an all-new story, as well as new dungeons and threats. Link's somehow learnt a new skill, being able to turn 2d and stick to walls to navigate otherwise impossible routes, during which the camera switches from overhead to a closer side view.

It's definitely a surprise. Check out the first screens below, and we'll have a trailer along shortly.

REVIEW. Written by Gillen McAllister

"Yes, it's an experience dipped heavily in nostalgia. It offers few surprises to the franchise formula. But it's the strongest entry in the top-down branch of the series since, well, A Link to the Past."
