Shenmue 3 was formally announced at the Sony E3 press conference not too long ago, and there it was revealed, that developer Ys Net and series creator Yu Suzuki were looking towards Kickstarter to secure $2 million for the project, which is also partly funded by Sony. The game quickly hit its target, but has since slowed down at a little over $3.5 million.
Now though, new stretch goals have been revealed for the game, which seems to suggest that the developer is looking for $11 million. Recently, Suzuki took part in an AMA on Reddit, where he said, that Shenmue is actually a story told in 11 separate chapters:
"There are a total of 11 chapters that make up the whole story. Over the past 14 years I originally planned for there to four or five games to the series. If at all possible, I would still like to realise the full story of 11 chapters."
