One of the standout features of Need for Speed Heat so far - going by promotional materials - is the colourful setting of Palm City Island, and we asked for more details on this world when we sat down with producer John Wikberg and senior game designer Yoni Rabinowitz not too long ago.

"It is a truly vibrant world, and it's inspired by the US South-East coast. That area is very vibrant in itself, it has so much variance, so we really took a lot of inspiration there," Wikberg said. "We also built the world really, really for driving in mind. Almost every road in the entire world is a race road. It's amazing to drive, it has so many good views," Wikberg said.

"Obviously it's a strong choice with bright, poppy colours and this kind of neon aesthetic, and it seems people are enjoying it so far," Rabinowitz added.

We also get to hear about the day and night differences in the interview below as well, with daytime racing earning you Bank currency to purchase cars, while racing at night is a touch more illegal and earns Reputation, which can also be utilised to unlock these goodies. What's more is that attention from cops also increases the Reputation you earn.

Does the world look good so far?
