Nintendo firms up its plans for E3 2019

A Nintendo Direct, Treehouse streams and esports event highlight Nintendo's E3 appearance this year.

With less than a week to go before E3 kicks off, Nintendo has announced everything it has planned for the massive Los Angeles event. There will be software presentations, live gameplay, tournaments and more, revealing a first-time indie-exclusive live stream and a digital sale. Here's a round-up of everything you'll see from Nintendo at E3 2019:

Nintendo Direct: For its main event on Tuesday, June 11, Nintendo will livestream a presentation which will include new details and gameplay for upcoming Switch titles releasing in 2019. The Nintendo Direct will begin at 9am PT (5pm BST, 6pm CEST) and can be watched here.

Nintendo Treehouse Live: Immediately following the main presentation, there will be an additional livestream which takes a further look at some of the titles featured in the Direct. Nintendo of America's Treehouse staff will be playing live demos of upcoming software, showing off fresh gameplay and discussing new information in special commentary. These broadcasts will continue to run for the following two days at 9am PT (5pm BST, 6pm CEST).

The final Treehouse stream will go live on Thursday 13th June, and it will be dedicated to upcoming indie titles for Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo Booth at E3: Event attendees will be able to play demos for upcoming games on the show floor including Pokémon Sword and Shield, Luigi's Mansion 3, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening remake and more.

Tournaments: Fans of competitive games can look forward to some tournament action. The festivities will kick off with Super Mario Maker 2, with four players competing in a variety of tricky courses. Following this, the Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 will get underway with an appearance from Alliance Rogue. The show will finish up with a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 3v3 tournament featuring German champs RobinGG and Sirjon, with Thunda as a back-up player. The tournament begins at 11am PT (7pm BST, 8pm CEST) on June 8 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel.

Nintendo eShop Sale: To further celebrate the event, Nintendo will be offering discounts on digital software for Switch and 3DS. The sale will kick off on the eShop on June 11 running through until June 18.
