Nintendo announced its financial results for the financial Q1 2019 (April 1 to June 30, 2018). Included was an update on shipments for Nintendo Switch and 3DS. Nintendo had shipped 19.67 million Switch consoles by end of June 2018. 1.88 million units had been sold during the quarter, so unless the rate has plummeted significantly it's safe to assume the current number is above 20 million.
Some data on software was also revealed. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze sold 1.40 million units worldwide. Mario Tennis Aces sold a cool 1.38 million units. Nintendo Labo reached sales of 1.39 million units. Total sales of software during the three month period came in at 17.96 million units.
Hardware sales of Nintendo 3DS meanwhile, now in its 8th year since launch, reached a more modest 360,000 units (72.89 million units sold during its lifetime), while 2.95 million games were sold. The re-launched Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition in June recorded sales of 1.26 million.
