Nintendo: We know you want a new Metroid

"We know fans want a straight Samus Aran game."

Metroid Prime: Federation Force was announced during E3, but it wasn't exactly what the fans have been asking for. In an interview with Kotaku, the Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime says he is well aware of the fans' wishes to get a new real Metroid:

"Look, we know that the fans want a straight Samus Aran game. We also know that the best way to launch a game like that is to surprise and delight them, to give them a launch date, in an environment like this let them play it vs. what other companies do which is to announce a project that you may not see for five, six years. It's just not the way we do things. We know the community wants to see a straight-up Metroid game. We know it."

Considering the fact that Nintendo will show their next home console NX on E3 next year, a new Metroid for Wii U seems a bit unlikely.
