2017 was the year of the loot box, and it seems as though 2018 will be the year of the removal of the loot box. Turn 10 has announced that the so-called prize crates will be removed from Forza Motorsport 7. Also, the so-called paid tokens which could be used to buy cars in previous games will not be implemented in Forza Motorsport 7 or the upcoming Forza Horizon 4.
"After careful consideration, we have decided to completely remove prize crates from Forza Motorsport 7. Similarly, paid tokens - which were a part of previous Forza games - will not be coming to Forza Motorsport 7 or Forza Horizon 4."
Prize crates affect many different aspects of FM7, so it will take time to remove the system completely. The studio's plan is to get things done sometime in the winter. Forza Horizon 4 is expected to launch October 2 on PC and Xbox One.
