In a truly unbelievable situation, the winner of the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2022 tournament has been decided and the team that went the distance was neither a big tournament winner in the past, and entered this event as a Challengers team.

It was the fittingly named Outsiders roster who after a truly remarkable showing, survived the Challengers, Legends, and Champions stages, to find themselves in the grand finals against Heroic.

After a fairly impressive showing in this finale match, where Outsiders won 2-0 (with a 16-12 win on Mirage, and then a 16-5 win on Overpass), the Challengers roster has been crowned as new Major winners, and will be heading home with $500,000 in prize money, as well as tickets to IEM Katowice 2023 and the Blast Premier Final 2022, which will be held in mid-December this year.
