The shift in meta is the culprit.

The Overwatch League returned last week after a little bit of a midseason hiatus, and upon its return, players found themselves having to adapt and play a new meta, one where Junker Queen was the tank to play. This shift has caused a bit of a shake-up in the expected results as the 'best' teams seemed to have struggled to master the new strategy. Here are the weeks results.

  • London Spitfire 1-3 Florida Mayhem

  • Houston Outlaws 2-3 New York Excelsior

  • Los Angeles Gladiators 2-3 Dallas Fuel

  • Boston Uprising 3-1 Atlanta Reign

  • Washington Justice 2-3 San Francisco Shock

  • Vancouver Titans 2-3 Toronto Defiant

  • Boston Uprising 0-3 London Spitfire

  • Paris Eternal 0-3 Washington Justice

  • Los Angeles Gladiators 2-3 Houston Outlaws

  • Vancouver Titans 3-0 Paris Eternal

  • Florida Mayhem 0-3 San Francisco Shock

  • New York Excelsior 1-3 Dallas Fuel

  • Toronto Defiant 3-1 Atlanta Reign

The most interesting result is that the Gladiators, the reigning Kickoff Clash and Midseason Madness champions, ended up losing both their games this week. While this is most likely growing pains while adjusting to the new season, we'll just have to see whether the Gladiators will be able to right the ship heading into the next week of games.
