When we talk about Overwatch's esports and competitive scene, we often talk about the lofty heights of the Overwatch League, but there are plenty of amateur players getting into the competitive spirit with the seasons, and we now know via an announcement on the Blizzard forums that Season 9 is ending soon.

Season 9 will end this Friday, April 27, at 17:00 PT (01:00 the next morning BST), but don't be sad for too long, because Season 10 is scheduled to launch at the same time on April 30, which is the Monday after.

What's more is that if you've completed your placement matches this season you can receive a special spray and player icon which will be unlocked automatically when you log in after the season's conclusion. Those placed within the top 500 players on the platform in their region will also get an extra icon and animated spray too.

Competitive Points will be rewarded based on the skill rating at the end of the season too, broken down as follows:

SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 65 CP
SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 125 CP
SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 250 CP
SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 500 CP
SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 750 CP
SR 3500-3999 (Master): 1200 CP
SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 1750 CP
