P 7 number plate has been sold for a record amount of money at a Dubai auction

An auction in Dubai has recently concluded and seen a private number plate selling at a record amount of money. The plate, which simply features the letter and digit, P 7, ended up selling to an anonymous bidder for the jaw-dropping price of £12 million.

As reported on by Top Gear, the deal is a world record and overtakes the former record that saw the plate with simply 1 on it selling for just over £11 million back in 2008.

The plate was also sold at an auction that was benefitting the UAE-based food charity, One Billion Meals Endowment, so hopefully the money will ultimately go towards something beneficial in the future.
