Lee Sun-kyun, the Korean actor best known for his role as the patriarch of the rich family in 2019's Parasite has passed away at the age of 48.
Lee Sun-kyun won acclaim in a variety of roles and performances across South Korea after making his debut in 2001 in a television sitcom. Bong Joon-ho's Parasite was where he first saw widespread international success, and since starred in AppleTV's first Korean language TV series.
As per The Guardian, his body was found in a car park in central Seoul after his wife found what appeared to be a suicide note. Lee Sun-kyun had reportedly struggled with drug use, and in South Korea the laws are much harsher on drug abuse, with those found guilty potentially facing up to 14 years in prison.
