Gran Turismo Sport is the upcoming console-bound racing sim from Polyphony Digital, and fans have been waiting for it for a very long time now. Why the long wait? Well, it turns out that one of the reasons we've had to be patient is that the game was built with future PlayStations in mind. Kind of.
In an interview with magazine Finder, Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi offered some insight into the development process, explaining how "it takes six months to create a single car." He then added that the game is "over-specced for PS4 Pro. So we are building for future versions of the console rather than the one we see today."
Yamauchi also mentioned that the game might be able to run in 8K on the still unannounced PS5. "I think it would be no problem to run it at 8K even," he said, although he offered nothing further to back that up.
Gran Turismo Sport is set to launch on October 18 exclusively on PS4.
