Black Forest Games, the resurrected Spellbound Entertainment, have taken to Kickstarter to seek out funding for their upcoming title Project Giana - described as "the grandchild of The Great Giana Sisters".
The game is already in its final phase of production, but Black Forest Games are hoping to $150,000 from gamers to secure its release - but for them to realise the full vision of the game $250,000 is required and with $300,000 there will also be an Ouya version. The game is so far confirmed for PC, with PSN and XBLA versions arriving at a later date.
With 29 days to go of the campaign Project Giana has reached 1,185 backers who have pledged a total of $28,108.
"The initial phase of our campaign went beyond our expectations", says Adrian Goersch, Managing Director of Black Forest Games. "We are especially happy that so many international fans support our endeavor to breathe new life into the Giana brand for its 25th anniversary."
An interesting twist that sets Project Giana apart from other jump and run titles is that fact that players will be able to switch between two different dream worlds on the fly.
"Cute Giana likes it spooky, thank you very much, and can lightly twirl over obstacles and enemies as long as the dream is sufficiently morbid. Flip to her candyland nightmare, and angry Punk Giana takes over, smashing anything fluffy that dares bar her way."
Candyland, eh? Sounds delicious.
