Real Racing 3 qualifiers for McLaren Shadow Project are open

You can take the McLaren 600LT to the Circuit of the Americas right now, although you'd best be quick.

McLaren has revealed that it has partnered with EA's Real Racing 3, meaning that this is their official mobile qualification game, with players able to test themselves by selecting the McLaren 600LT before completing the best lap around the Circuit of the Americas.

Qualifiers open today and run until September 12 globally, and the winner will be invited to the McLaren Technology Centre for the grand finals between December 9 and 11. The champion of this event will be getting unique access to McLaren training, a seat on the Shadow esports team, and a custom sim-racing setup in their home, so the stakes are high.

"McLaren Shadow Project is the most diverse and dynamic racing esports competition on the planet. We are looking for talented racers from all countries and backgrounds, across all major platforms, and we are delighted to have partnered with Real Racing 3. Mobile devices are truly ubiquitous, and available to the largest number of gamers globally," said Ben Payne, McLaren Director of Esports.

"Driving is a gaming genre for which the transference of skills between the virtual and the real is genuine and proven - and we believe this must include mobile. We're confident that by putting the Real Racing 3 champion through the McLaren's bespoke driver training programme in October we'll have a mobile racer who is competition ready and able to compete against the cream of virtual racing at the December Finals."
