The Red Solstice is getting a sequel in the form of The Red Solstice 2: Survivors, and when we were at Gamescom we caught up with Ironward's CEO Hrvoje Horvatek to hear exactly what's in store for players, especially fans of the original.

"So basically, for everyone who played Red Solstice 1, Red Solstice 1 was a game where you played one mission which was procedurally-generated, with different outcomes, so you played it over and over alone or with your friends," he told us.

"If we compare that to Red Solstice 2, in Red Solstice 2 you are defending an entire planet with a series of missions where the gameplay is divided between the strategy layer and combat missions."

"Combat missions - instead of Red Solstice where they take one hour in the first one - here, between five to 15 minutes. And basically, choices you make on your strategy layer while creating research, building your assets, and upgrading your engineering will make your combat missions different."

Did you play the first?
