After the success of Resi7, it seems as though the company will branch out.

Capcom soft launched the cloud version of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in Japan a few weeks ago and the publisher is trying out a new business model: you don't buy the game, nor do you have to pay a monthly fee, rather it's a six-month rental for less than half the typical cost of the game.

While the publisher never confirmed how many people downloaded the game it was obviously enough to persuade them to carry on with the experiment because, according to the Wall Street Jounal, there are more games to come. Citing "people with direct knowledge of the matter at Capcom", the site claims that company is apparently looking at other titles although there's no info about what they might be or when they could be released. A spokeswoman told the WSJ that the decision will be made considering the performance of RE7 on Switch.

Another source inside the industry explained that development costs are low for cloud versions of already made AAA games and preparing a new version "doesn't require much investment". The debate right now is on when to launch these cloud versions and how much to ask for them, as a cheaper price on the same date could hurt standard releases and push down prices, especially considering the fact that the Switch is a second console for many people.
