Rey and Kylo Ren never met before The Force Awakens

Since Star Wars: The Force Awakens landed in cinemas last year, fans have been trying to piece together the puzzle of the unanswered questions the movie left us with. Where does Rey come from? Are she and antagonist Kylo Ren related somehow?

Well, now at least we know that the pair never met before the events of the film, but that Kylo Ren at the very least had heard of her. This information comes from the commentary track of the new Collector's Edition of the movie on blu-ray and it come's directly from director J.J. Abrams.

"One of the new relationships that we were focusing on was between Kylo Ren and Rey. They've never met but he's heard of this girl."

He also touches on the scene where Rey and Leia share an embrace, a scene that left many Star Wars fans confused since the two never met before that point either.

"This moment, I think, is actually lovely and the idea that these two women who'd never met knew of each other, and they're both Force-strong and they're both bound by their loss [of Han] and their strength," Abrams explained.

This year we'll get to see the spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in theaters, while we'll have to wait an additional year for Episode VIII. What are your thoughts on the mysteries of Episode VII?
