We got a quick chat with Ground Shatter director James Parker about their upcoming cel-shaded shooting gallery title Rico that puts you in the shoes of an agent with the objective of taking out a crime syndicate in 24 hours. The Virtua Cop and Time Crisis inspired game sees you kick in doors and shot bad guys in the face (ideally) either alone or with a friend. The rooms are procedurally generated so you'll need to quickly assess the threat and take out the enemies as fast as you can.

"When you breach a room, when you kick in the door, you get a period of slowdown", explains Parker. "And during that time it's kind of your opportunity to even out the odds, cause you're either one or two cops facing down this huge criminal organisation. So it's in that moment where you've just kicked open the door, you have the opportunity to assess the situation and pick which order you're going to take out the targets in.

The plan is to release Rico at the end of this year on all major platforms, that's PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.

REVIEW. Written by Roy Woodhouse

"While Rico won't be a contender for game of the year, it does bring a lot of fun to the table. It's simple, well-designed and unashamedly fun."
