Riot Games has announced the Legends of Runeterra World Championship, a tournament that is set to see the best players around the globe qualify and compete for a slot in a grand finals tournament with a $200,000 prize pool.

The event will see 64 players from the Americas, 64 from Europe, and 64 from Asia all looking to compete for 6:5:5 (Americas/Europe/Asia) seats in the World Championships. Players who can compete for these minimal number of places will qualify from Ranked, Seasonal Tournament Finalists, and Seasonal Tournament Points, and those that are good enough to claim the Worlds seats, will move forward to a tournament where $200,000 is on the line.

Aside from the fact that we know the World Championship will feature 16 members and a $200,000 prize pool, Riot has also stated that it will feature a group stage, that will feature 4-player round robins, where the top two from each group will move forward into a single-elimination format bracket to crown the World Champion.

Further details, including broadcast plans are set to be announced in the future.
