Riot Games announces the North American Challengers League
It will replace the current Academy and Proving Grounds format.

Riot Games has announced its replacement for the North American League of Legends Academy and Proving Grounds tournament format. Known as the North American Challengers League (NACL), this tournament will see ten fixed teams (former Academy rosters) and six provisional teams (amateur teams) facing off in two seasonal splits over the year, which will all culminate in a double-elimination playoffs.
It's said that the provisional teams will qualify through a promotion and relegation system, and that after each split, the four bottom provisional teams will face off with the top four NACL Qualifier teams for the remaining slots in the NACL.
To emphasise its more official nature, all those who play in the NACL will have their contracts recorded on Riot's official database, which should make it easier for LCS teams to further judge and scout players for the premier league.
