Riot Games has unveiled the plans for the 2022 League of Legends: Wild Rift competitive scene. Following up on the preseason tournament, the Horizon Cup, in 2021, this year will see a jump in backing and will include eight regional leagues spread around the world.

Revealed in a blog post, the leagues will serve as the "foundation for Wild Rift Esport's global competitive structure," with each "bringing their own unique flavor and style to the sport."

As for what the leagues will be, they include:

  • Wild Rift Cup Japan

  • Wild Rift North America Series

  • Wild Tour Brasil

  • Wild Rift Championship EMEA

  • Wild Rift League

  • Wild Rift Champions Korea

  • Wild Rift Latinoamerica Open

  • Wild Rift Champions SEA

As part of the announcements, Riot also shared that the first global tournament (part of the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship) for the scene will take place in Europe in the summer, and that it will feature 24 teams, eight of whom will qualify from regional leagues, and the remaining 16 who will be determined via a play-in stage. There will then be a group stage to eliminate teams ahead of a knockout stage, which will lead to a finals day.
