The upcoming Assassin's Creed movie just got a lot more interesting. It turns out Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) has signed up for the project and will be playing the role of legendary inventor Leonardo da Vinci.

Da Vinci's involvement almost certainly means that the earlier rumours regarding the movie being based on the Assassin's Creed II trilogy are true.

It is also known that Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave) will also star in the movie, although it's not clear what role he will have in it. Thanks IBT.
