Sony got a lot of well-deserved criticism for not allowing cross-play with the other platforms last summer. The company tried to make some fairly flimsy excuses at first but had a change of heart a few months later when it decided to launch a beta where Fortnite was the only game that supported it.
That helped a bit, but those who get a taste will obviously want more, so it didn't take long before players started sharing their dreams of other games being supported as well. It took a few additional months, but one of the most requested games has just joined the fray.
Psyonix and Sony have announced that Rocket League just joined the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program, which means that players on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch get to play against and with each other right now. Unfortunately, the cross-platform party system hasn't been finalised yet, so we'll only be able to have random matchmaking in all online match types.
To enable this long-awaited feature, just go into "Options" and check the "Cross-Platform Play" box in the "Gameplay" tab. Then you're ready to test your skills against millions of players you've never met before.
Was Rocket League highest on your wishlist or are you waiting for another?
