It's been two and a half years since Microsoft unveiled Platinum Games' Scalebound during their E3 conference. The game had a fairly good showing back then, but has been surprisingly quiet since. Sure, we've gotten a few snippets of gameplay, but not much more than that. This, combined with the delay, has made many of us uncertain about the game's future. These worries have now been validated.

It started when Kotaku's usually reliable Jason Schreier posted an article where he revealed that he had been talking to his sources who claimed that the game was in big trouble. Apparently it had been in development hell for quite some time, and it was in danger of being cancelled. Eurogamer backed up these claims shortly after, and it didn't take long for Microsoft to confirm it:

"After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for "Scalebound." We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including "Halo Wars 2," "Crackdown 3," "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and other great experiences."
