Developer Tim Schafer has used a Double Fine update video to offer his support to Peter Molyneux, saying the recent coverage of him and his studio 22cans has been "way out of proportion".

"In the last few weeks we've seen some extremely rough treatment of Peter on the internet and in the games press and I think it's really unfortunate and unfair, and I don't think it's healthy," he says during the video.

He sympathises with the development issues that Molyneux's crowd-funded title Godus has seen, and while he's "not saying that developers like Peter and I shouldn't be responsible and shouldn't be accountable to deadlines... the reaction to recent events and the tone of that reaction is really way out of proportion to the seriousness of the events themselves.

"Developers are human beings and I think it's clear that the problems that Peter is having are not unique to him. In fact, they happen on many if not most projects."

"It may not be Tim Schafer's most memorable work, but it offers a nice treatment of some themes that are seldom well represented in video games."

"What really elevates Broken Age from just a nice story with simple and proven point-and-click mechanics, is the presentation."
