Sega profits rise 33% year-on-year

While Sega's golden days may generally be thought to be long behind them the company has been profitable lately, and the last fiscal year showed major improvement

Now, the company has revealed through its financial report (picked up by GamesIndustry) that game profits rose 33% over the past year, with operating profits landing at a healthy $135 million.

Sega specifically mentions a few key players that has helped secured the growth, amongst them being both Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces, as well as Persona 5. And naturally steady contributors like the Football Manager and Total War franchises helped as well.

Sega is expecting to further increase game profits this year by releasing, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Valkyria Chronicles 4 and Shenmue I & II on PS4 and Xbox One. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life western sales will also be included in the next fiscal year, and there's the promise of that teases new Sonic Racing title.
