It looks like as if Sega's internal Yakuza studio is working on an entirely new franchise. Sega Sammy CEO Haruki Satomi confirmed the news to Japanese gaming mag Famitsu, revealing that the studio has already begun work on a brand new franchise, as reported by GamingBolt.

We don't know much about this new IP as yet, but what we do know that the game will hit consoles, although no platforms are mentioned. Therefore it could be an exclusive PlayStation release, or maybe a cross-platform title, we simply don't know. Nothing else is certain at this point, aside from the fact that Yakuza Kiwami 2 will hit shelves sometime in late 2018 in Japan.
