Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice released last month as the latest challenging title produced by FromSoftware, and aside from igniting a furious debate on accessibility and difficulty options in tough games (something God of War's director Cory Barlog spoke out about), fans have been enjoying the latest hardcore title from the Dark Souls and Bloodborne developer, so much so that Activision has revealed that the game has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide in less than 10 days.

"Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has brought something very special and unique to Activision's portfolio of games. It's been an honor to work with FromSoftware to help introduce a brand-new franchise to gamers around the world," said Michelle Fonseca, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Activision. "The fans have made Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice one of the most incredible game launches of 2019 thus far. The game has performed well on all platforms including PC and we're excited by the continued support from gamers and critics alike. It has been gratifying to see the enjoyment from fans when they overcome each challenge."

As pointed out by Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter, the original Dark Souls managed to sell 2.37 million copies in a year and a half, while Dark Souls 2 sold 2.5 million in a year and 3 took a couple of months to reach 3 million, so it's definitely a major milestone for FromSoftware to hit 2 million in 10 days.

"The sheer presence and power of these warriors make Sekiro's sense of play feel unique even within the confines of FromSoftware's past works."
