SOE might have seen better days, especially after the cancellation of The Agency and the following lay-offs. But CEO John Smedley looks to the future. More exactly, your children's future. And potentially your children's children.

"I don't see this thing stopping until it hits 100 million [registered players]," he said about the company's child-friendly MMO Free Realms, that just launched on the PS3 after a longer run on the PC, in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz (registration needed).

"I think it could take five or six years - that should give you some idea. But I don't see any reason why it can't go to 100 million, because there are so many kids out there. And the great thing about a kids' game, and this is different for an adult audience and people don't think about this, is that there are always more kids."

Smedley hopes that this "endless supply of children that have a hunger for gaming" will give Free Realms a long life-cycle. I guess we'll just have to agree with VG247 - if you want to help SOE out, make more children.
