Recently Ubisoft's winter sports game Steep had its first ever competitive event called The Steep Road to the Olympics Grand Finals, supported by the International Olympic Committee and partnered with esports organiser ESL, and now we know the two winners that were crowned during the event, these being Norway's SNiiKx and USA's Bonecrusher 2D.

Six finalists took to the ESL Studios in Katowice, Poland, on January 27 for the chance to make a name for themselves, with four of these qualifying via the Road to the Olympics DLC leaderboard and two wildcards selected by the community. The competition includes both Slopestyle and Downhill on the snowboard, so it definitely tested the competitors' skills.

These two winners will attend the Olympic Winter Games opening ceremony in PyeongChang, and for highlights of the event make sure to check out Ubisoft's official YouTube channel. That won't be the game's only contribution towards the Winter Games though, as Steep will be present via gaming kiosks throughout the Olympic Village.

Do you think Steep could have more esports events?

REVIEW. Written by Kieran Harris

"The awe-inspiring open world is a technical marvel, and while it's submerged in snow and ice in its entirety, there is still plenty of variation."
