The highly creative Super Mario Maker, in which the players can build and share their own levels, have surpassed 3.5 million sold copies. An impressive feat given the relatively slow sales of the Wii U hardware (12.8 million as of March 31). This means roughly a quarter of all Wii U owners have a copy of Super Mario Maker.
The news arrived courtesy of Nintendo themselves, who mentioned the impressive sales in a tweet. An impressive and rather overwhelming 7.2 million user created levels have been created and played more than 600 million times.
