Update: Take-Two reached out to clarify that they have purchased Kerbal Space Program, not its developer Squad. The studio itself remains independent.

Original: In a blog post, the Kerbal Space Program team announced that Take-Two Interactive has bought them out, but that it doesn't change much for the KSP community.

"Squad and the current development team is still here and we're hard at work on KSP and its future updates, but now we are fortunate enough to do so with the help of an experienced publisher like Take-Two, and we couldn't be more excited and happy to see where our conjoint collaboration will take KSP forward."

The team is still working hard on the Making History expansion and they've confirmed they're keeping their promise of making all DLC and expansions free for those who bought the game before April 2013. They're also still working closely with Blitworks on the console versions of the game, which will be a free update for anyone who already owns Kerbal Space Program.
