Take-Two Interactive, the parent company responsible for publishing games under the 2K Games, 2K Sports and Rockstar labels, has formed a fourth label for independent studios called Private Division. Announced via a video in which five studios; Panache Digital Games, The Outsiders, Squad, Obsidian Entertainment, and V1 Interactive, talk about their decision to sign up with the new label and their vision.

Headlining was Patrice Désilets who's Panache Digital Games are working on the Assassin's Creed creator's next game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, but we're equally excited about The Outsider's reversed-RPG where you play the monster Project Wight and whatever the next RPG from Obsidian Entertainment brings (team led by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, co-creators of Fallout). Squad and Kerbal Space Program needs no introduction, of course. Little is known about what Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto's new studio V1 Interactive in Seattle is working on, but they seem intent on keeping a small team, and apparently, it's a sci-fi shooter.

"We have spent more than two years laying the groundwork for Private Division, building an experienced publishing team and signing projects with some the most respected and talented creative leaders in our industry," said Michael Worosz, SVP and Head of Independent Publishing at Take-Two. "We see a growing number of independent studios in our industry creating high quality games based on new IP, and our focus is supporting these types of developers and projects, and ultimately bringing incredible experiences to gamers around the world."

According to a press release none of these titles (except for Kerbal Space Program: Making History) is expected anytime soon (not "planned for release during Take-Two's fiscal years ending March 31, 2018 and 2019"). So expect these games to start turning up in 2020 and beyond.
