Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy plot details leaked

Back in November, a document leak from the recent voice actors' strike suggested a video game adaptation of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was in development by Telltale Games. This was confirmed true the following month as the title was revealed during 2016's Game Awards show. Now it would appear that information has leaked once more in a recent product listing from US retailer GameStop.

The listing, which advertises physical pre-orders for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, details the game with the following plot synopsis: "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series delivers a brand new story of the universe's unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands. "

"From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience."

Before it was pulled, WWG managed to spot additional details on the listing which included a release date. According to the product details, Telltale's latest game adaptation is due for release on April 25 - just a week before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premieres in cinemas.

Whether this would work similarly to Telltale Games' past retail releases, with new episodes unlocking as they become available, remains to be seen. In any case, it looks as though at least the first episode of the series will arrive ahead of the movie's release in May. While final release dates are unconfirmed, this paints a good picture of when to expect Telltale's Guardians' adaption.
