The Molasses Flood is a small indie developer out of Boston consisting of veteran developers that have been working on The Flame in the Flood - "a rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten post-societal America". The game has been available for Kickstarter backers in a "backer's beta", but has now joined the ranks of Steam's Early Access program. The Molasses Flood's Forrest Dowling had this to say via the press release:

"We're extremely excited to be launching the game just under a year after successfully Kickstarting the title. We're looking forward to the feedback early access players will provide as we continue to develop and expand the game. We're also excited to see how long people can survive the river. We're pretty sure that players will be better than us in no time."

The Molasses Flood estimate that they will spend around six months in Early Access and the price (£14.99/€19.99) will remain the same upon full release.

We last spoke to Forrest Dowling of The Molasses Flood at the Xbox Showcase during E3 (the game is also due out on Xbox One):

REVIEW. Written by Jonas Mäki

"It's original, exciting, vulnerable, beautiful and a game that you'll want to come back to again and again."
