It seems The Game Awards 2018 was a massive hit for Geoff Keighley and the rest of his team, as this year's live audience numbers were over double that of last year's edition. More specifically, the press release mentions viewership of 26.2 million watching global livestreams, marking an increase of 128% over last year's 11.5 million.

Fan voting also increased by 50%, with over 10.5 million logged-in votes. Fans got to vote in each category, contributing to the overall votes poll that also included games media, like Gamereactor.

The show's creator, producer, and host Geoff Keighley had the following to say regarding this year's successful show:

"Five years in, it's amazing to see The Game Awards continue to grow both domestically and internationally. These results further validate our focus on an all-digital, no-friction approach of sharing this show globally across more than 45 video platforms, not to mention the growing interest and passion for video games around the world."

The Game Awards showed a mix of new trailers and announcements, live music shows, and of course the winners for several categories, a full list of which you can see here. We've also thrown in a few trailers we saw at the event, to remind you why people got so excited.
