Activision has announced that its World Series of Warzone tournament will be making a return this year, and actually expanding in the process. Set to see action held on Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, the tournament will put $1 million up for grabs and will see 34 teams from around the world qualifying to fight for a slice of that.

The tournament will begin with regional qualifiers, where 14 teams from the EMEA region, 14 teams from North America, 1 team from APAC, three teams from LATAM North, and two teams from LATAM South will advance and earn a place in the Global Final at the end of the season. All teams will consist of trios.

As the WSoW has a global focus, you can see how the format and qualification is laid out in the graphic below. As per scoring, Activision has revealed that a new system has been put into effect that sees game placement serving as a multiplier for number of eliminations earned during each game, a move that should encourage teams to hunt for kills instead of playing for position and match wins predominantly.

As has been the case in the past, the Global Final will also feature a #SoloYolo tournament too, where a further $50,000 will be up for the solo winner of that match.
