We might have expected a trailer and a press release, but Electronic Arts instead decided to more conservatively announce that Command & Conquer is making a return on PC to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series, this time with a remaster of one of the first games (naturally, we're expecting the first one - although you never know).

It was Jim Vessella, producer at Electronic Arts, who announced it in a post on Reddit. This is what he had to say about it:

As most of you may know, we recently announced Command & Conquer: Rivals, a mobile game set in the Command & Conquer universe. Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn't agree more. With that in mind we've been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.

In another message designed to sooth player concerns, Vessella also promised that there will be no microtransactions integrated into the game. With that in mind, are you happy to hear that the series is making a return?
