As the fall of THQ is coming to its conclusion creditors are looking for more than $200 million from the once third biggest third party publisher in North America, Polygon reports.
Microsoft are looking for licensing fees that went unpaid. Codemasters wants royalties, as do Double Fine and Zuffa (owners of UFC). Several contractors are former executives are also among the hopefuls.
Among the people wanting to get paid is tattoo artist Chistopher Escobedo who sued THQ for $4.16 million over the inclusion of a reproduction of UFC fighter Carlos Condit in UFC Undisputed 3. Now, before we all pronounce Escobedo as they biggest douchebag in the universe (he may very well be that, who knows) for trying to snatch money from much more deserving creditors - it is an interesting case of whether you are allowed to reproduce tattoos in games. Obviously THQ licensed the likeness of Condit from Zuffa (owners of UFC) - so in a way maybe it's Condit who Escobedo should sue (for signing away digital rights of his art). That's not going to be a payday worth $4.16 million, though.
Now, even if the sales of various IPs and studios did garner some money, it is unlikely that the creditors will get full restoration and in the case of Escobedo hopefully he will get nothing. No claims will be paid until the end of the bankruptcy case in May.
