What remains of Dungeon Defenders creators Trendy Entertainment has been rebranded as Chromatic Games, with roughly 30 employees and original founder Augi Lye having bought out the company from investors for something of a fresh start. The Trendy name got a bit tarnished amidst allegations of misconduct by co-founder Jeremy Stieglitz who left the company in 2014 (going on to fund Studio Wildcard that went on to create ARK: Survival Evolved), so perhaps the rebranding is partly due to that.

Currently, Chromatic is continuing its work on Dungeon Defenders II, but the main focus over the next while appears to be Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, a new game that's more along the lines of the original Dungeon Defenders that's currently seeking funds on Kickstarter. The new game is looking for $250,000 USD and currently has $173,000 with 22 days to go on the campaign. The plan is for a beta of the new game to launch in October, but this time it's not a free-to-play title and there are plans for console versions (although PS4 and Xbox ports are a stretch goal at $350,000).
