Despite being two of the longest active Dota 2 players in the scene, both Jacky "EternaLEnVy" Mao and Eric "Ryoya" Dong have announced that they are retiring from competitive play. Both announcements came on the same day, July 2, despite being completely separate incidents. As for why both individuals are stepping away from professional play, lack of enjoyment seem to be the reasons.

Ryoya's announcement post gave some more colour, and stated, "Retired dota, no longer have the same enjoyment I used to have playing. Gl to everyone and ty everyone I met along the way for the memories."

As for EternaLEnVy, all he had to say was "Retired Competitive".
