Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is this week's best-selling game at UK retail, sneaking up and taking FIFA 16's place at the top of the charts. Syndicate's success comes despite the open-world murder simulator failing to surpass the sales reached by previous entry Unity (which given the London setting is surprising). In fact, the new Assassin's Creed only outperforms one other core series entry, the old-gen swan-song Assassin's Creed: Rogue.

EA Sports' football sim managed to hold off another strong challenge, this time from Guitar Hero Live, to stay in second. Just outside of the top ten, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes makes an appearance in eleventh for Nintendo's handheld. Here's the top ten care of GfK Chart-Track:

1. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate / Ubisoft
2. FIFA 16 / EA
3. Guitar Hero Live / Activision
4. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection / Sony
5. Grand Theft Auto V / Take 2
6. Lego Dimensions / Warner Bros.
7. Destiny: The Taken King / Activision
8. Forza Motorsport 6 / Microsoft
9. Lego Jurassic World / Warner Bros.
10. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain / Konami

And if you'd prefer to see how the chart breaks down across different consoles, here's how games have been selling on individual platforms, again via Gfk Chart-Track:

1. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate / Ubisoft / PS4
2. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate / Ubisoft / Xbox One
3. FIFA 16 / EA / PS4
4. FIFA 16 / EA / Xbox One
5. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection / Sony / PS4
6. FIFA 16 / EA / Xbox 360
7. Guitar Hero Live / Activision / PS4
8. Guitar Hero Live / Activision / Xbox One
9. Forza Motorsport 6 / Microsoft / Xbox One
10. Grand Theft Auto V / Take 2 / PS4
