Venom has made more than $500 million at the box office

Venom has not had it easy. The production was plagued by cancellations and delays, and rumour has it that the best 40 minutes of the movie was left on the cutting room floor. It finally made it to release, but it was met with luke-warm critiques, at best. Our own review gave it a 5/10, and it has a measly 30% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite this, the movie has made more than $500 million at the box office worldwide. Screenrant speculates that it has something to do with how the fans have responded to the symbiote, in particular, the relationship between Eddie and Venom.

Although critics largely disliked the movie, citing its many flaws, fans have embraced them and found a special place for the movie, and the creature, in their hearts. This has resulted in an influx of support for the movie on social media, as well as plethora of straight up adorable fan art.

Thanks to its relative success at the box office, and the fact that the director is already coming up with ideas for a sequel, it seems like Venom is here to stay. Have you seen it, and would you like a sequel?
