It looks like we know who will be starring opposite David Corenswet's Man of Steel.
"Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of GRTV News. Today we're going to be talking a little bit about the movie space because, well quite a big announcement has been made in regards to one of the more anticipated sort of mainline movies that we've got coming up with that being Superman Legacy. Now James Gunn is, or should we say has been very open when it comes to talking about this film. It feels like we've really been informed about how everything's progressing about it in regards to the script and production and casting."
"And now we've got an extension of that because it has been revealed that Lex Luthor has been cast and it's a role that's going to be going to none other than Nicholas Hoult. So let's dive on in. Superman Legacy's Lex Luthor will apparently be Nicholas Hoult. The X-Men Future Class, Mad Max, Fury Road, The Menu and Renfield Star has reportedly been cast in James Gunn's upcoming DC movie. Back in June, James Gunn confirmed that David Karenzweat and Rachel Broschemin had been cast as Superman and Lois in the first new DCU movie, Superman Legacy."
"We've seen several relatively minor roles been cast since then, but one of the most important ones was still missing until now. Usually very reliable, Justin Kroll and Anthony de Lisandro over at Deadline claim that Nicholas Hoult, X-Men Future Class, Mad Max, Fury Road, The Menu, Renfield and more has been cast as Lex Luthor in Superman Legacy. It's worth mentioning that The Hollywood Reporter's Aaron Couch reports that Hoult is still just in talks to play the role. It would make some sense, however, as Hoult was also one of the finalists to play Superman. So it sounds like Gunn and crew really like him. Now, it is a bit of an interesting one, this because on one hand, you kind of look at Lex Luthor and you think there needs to be some sort of like, you know, quite big, burly sort of individual, sort of similar to the way that Marvel cast Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin."
"You know, it feels like quite an individual that commands the screen in that regard. But then again, in the DC universe or the DC extended universe, we have seen Jesse Eisenberg play Lex Luthor. So, you know, there's quite a lot of depth that this character can have, which is interesting. But yes, as Eric puts in the news piece there, this isn't just like a casting that's come out of nowhere. Nicholas Hoult was one of the finalists to maybe even take on the role of Superman himself, which ultimately went to David Corenzo instead."
"So seeing him being picked up and put in the role of Lex Luthor isn't like a huge surprise to many, I would say. And besides, Nicholas Hoult has proved as of late that he is going to be quite a strong and compelling actor. So we're definitely looking at some some interesting and potentially very favourable castings for this film when it ultimately does make its debut in 2025, which, again, it's a while away. So, you know, there's a long time for this until this movie actually makes its debut. But it's coming. But yes, as we know more about it and we will know more about it, because like I said earlier at the start of this new video, James Gunn likes to talk about this film. So while this isn't even like a confirmed announcement in regard to Nicholas Hoult taking on the role of Lex Luthor, we'll no doubt hear James Gunn talking about it soon and no doubt we'll hear more about that, the film itself in the future as well. So when we do know more about Superman Legacy, we'll be sure to keep you posted and updated. And until then, thank you for watching today's episode of GRTV News."
"We'll be back now tomorrow for the next one of the week. So hope you enjoy the rest of your Tuesday and we'll see you on the next one. Take care, everyone."
