"So meet the Xiaomi 14T Pro.
That is less good or less high-end than the regular Xiaomi 14T usually indicates affordable, but this is the 14T Pro, so is it not better than the 14?
No, but it's better than the regular 14T."
"So it's a bit weird still, but you really should, really should be interested in this phone if you're looking for a really compelling mid-ranger because this just has the works And whether or not you like Xiaomi's HyperOS is going to be the main thing that either steers you away or steers you towards."
"But let's go over the specs because this is a spec king first and foremost.
Inside we have the Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset.
In various benchmarks such as Antutu and Geekbench, this is among the top performers.
And the only thing that we experienced during our time with it was not so much thermal throttle but more that it got warm when playing games like Genshin Impact or taking long stretches of 4K video."
"You get 12GB of RAM, up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
So that's sort of the main specs done.
The screen here is 6.67 inches.
It's 1220p, so not 1080p, at up to 144Hz."
"This is an AMOLED that does 144Hz.
Now the UI runs at 120Hz, but if games or apps support 144, well then that's what you're going to get.
You also get Dolby Vision support, HDR10+, and up to 4000 nits in specific spots during outdoor sessions."

The only thing that is actually missing is being an LTPO, meaning that it can throttle between 1Hz and the full 144 depending on what you're actually doing, which might save you some power."
"Back here, battery, 5000mAh, 120W charging, and 50W wireless charging.
Alongside that, there's no cheap materials here.
This is matte glass, this is aluminium, it's IP68 dust and water resistant, all good.
The only thing about charging though is that for the first time ever, Xiaomi is not giving you a charger in the box, meaning that 120W is going to have to come from your own pocket."

Where have they seen this?
Well, not on the cameras, because as you can see, we have three modules here and a time of flight alongside of a flash here, but it's a 50MP 23mm wide with optical image stabilization, a 50MP 60mm telephoto with 2.6x optical zoom, and a 12MP 15mm ultrawide at 120 degrees."
"If you just heard all those words getting minced inside your head, there's only one real letdown here, and that is an optical telephoto lens, which only goes to 2.6x.
That is not enough.
The telephoto lens is among other things there to provide the reach that the other lenses cannot provide, and doing so optically, so that there is no quality loss when you're going in on a digital crop, meaning that it's a bit strange to opt for 2.6x when these 5x modules are so readily and easily to come by from other manufacturers, competing manufacturers."
"Still, the lens selection has been partially selected by Leica.
Xiaomi has this ongoing deal with them, and it has something that I think that phone cameras ought to start having again, which is an opinion.
These are dramatic, really contrasty with high extremities between various bits of the photo that's exposed."
"The real way you can experience this is going out at dusk or night and then photographing like streetlights, for instance, then see the dramatic way in which bloom contrasts with the inky sort of vantablacks of the surrounding sky or area or whatever.
It really does lean into the dynamic range, high contrast punchy photos that I think are lost in the cool iPhone and Pixel photos that you might look at most of the time on Instagram."
"So this is an awesome phone.
It really truly is.
It's not like, you know, pull up a couple of banknotes from your pocket cheap, but it's certainly a lot of like this is Google Pixel 8a levels of cheap and you're really not giving up much."
