The comic book style and action gameplay caught our eye with Lethal Honor - Order of the Apocalypse.
"Hi friends, I'm in Bilbao for the BIG 2024 and I'm taking a look at the Indie Games being showcased here at the Indie Showcase area.
And this is the first Indie Game that caught my eye, which is Lethal Honor.
And it caught my eye because the art style is nuts. It looks really, really good, the comic art style."
"I think it's because of you, it's your fault.
So what can you... First and foremost, what can you tell me about the comic art style?
Always, for a long, long time I was thinking about doing a game, but based in a comic style.
But we didn't have..."
"We didn't know quite good how to do it with a 3D style.
So we decided to mix a kind of 2D stylish with a little 3D.
So based in a comic style like Mike Mignola, Frank Miller style, we tried to take it to a video game.
So I tried to do it as the best I could and this is the result."
"And the result is called Lethal Honor and it's a roguelike and it's an action game.
So what can you tell me about the gameplay mechanics and what you guys are trying for us to play here?
Yeah, in the game you take the role of an agent of Lethal Honor and you fight against demons.
Basically you wake up from your pod and you take your weapon."
"Now we have three weapons, a katana, some katars and a warhammer.
With that you can fight the demons and also you have super strength and you have special abilities.
So in the game you obtain different abilities.
You can take artifacts that change the rules a little during the gameplay as a classic roguelike."
"And if you die obviously they give you some items that you can use in the hub for a better start statistics with the player.
But all of the rest is gone for the new player.
And this is after the apocalypse?
Yeah."
"So what else can you tell me about the setting and about the sort of the bosses that I'm seeing here, the enemies?
They look really, really good.
So what can you tell me about the setting and the enemies?
Well, about the setting, at the beginning you are in a facility of a secret society named Lethal Honor."
"There is where they are making these agents, these super agents.
The apocalypse has happened in the war.
I mean, it was not a drastic blast.
It was more like, hey, something happened and demons appeared."
"And the demons discovered that Lethal Honor knows that the apocalypse was going to happen.
Beforehand.
Yes, beforehand.
And they say, hey, we need to destroy these people."
"And they attack the facility.
And the game starts in the moment the demons start the attack to the facility.
Some scientists on there say the agents are not ready, but we need to avoid.
We need to use them."
"And let's see how they can manage the situation.
Right now we can see in the screen an ancient facility.
But usually we fight in a modern facility.
But when you play with a lost agent, as we named him, you really don't know where you are exactly."
"But you have some companions that will help you to understand the situation.
What do you have to do?
To get out of the laboratory, in this case, and know the rest of the space where you are fighting.
So you are part of Lethal Honor at first."
"And then you will probably find out some dark things about these people.
No, I mean, Lethal Honor are the good ones.
I mean, they are trying to fight the apocalypse.
But it is true that some people inside Lethal Honor have no good intentions."
"And there is a mystery which is how the demons can reach the facility.
Obviously there was a reason for that.
But it's not the highest level of Lethal Honor.
Because this is just one of the facilities of the organization."
"In fact, if they want to protect the world, they have a lot of facilities like this all around the world.
And it's true that the demons have a toxic plague that spreads across the world.
And luckily, some of the enemies are your previous companions that are being affected with this.
I think that can happen nowadays too."
"Okay, and this being a roguelike, of course, it reminds me of Hades, Hades 2.
We have seen many other action-based roguelike games.
Which would you say are the aspects that set this game apart from other roguelikes?
In terms of, I don't know, gameplay or other aspects that are different in this game?
Yeah, Hades was a high reference for the combat, the movement and the quickness of the action."
"But the difference is basically in the use of the abilities, the story is more direct.
It's not like Hades where you die a lot and you keep learning.
This is not, this is straightforward.
There are events, also the protagonists are not the agents."
"They are the people that are in the awakening room helping them.
So all the story moves around them, on how they are learning for the sacrifice of the agents.
Because obviously as a roguelike, it's not like an agent dies and resuscitates.
No, every agent counts as a death and the people in the awakening room know it."
"Also another different point is, well, we have more little things across the runs.
The artifacts, which changes the rules a little.
The enchantments, you can improve the weapons using crafting materials, etc.
There is more mechanics in this way than in other games."
"Alright, and you guys have a publisher already, Handy Games.
The game is to release in 2025.
So what can you tell me about the status of the project right now and the platforms you are going to release on?
We are going to release the game on all the platforms."
"PS5, PS4, Xbox, PC, obviously Steam.
We are on Steam right now and Nintendo Switch too.
But we don't have the exact date.
But they are talking about March."
"March of 2025.
Fantastic. Looks really nice.
Lethal Honor here at the big conference in Bilbao.
So thank you so much for your time. I'm looking forward to playing it."
