Who will Momoa play in the Helldivers movie?

"Hi there, welcome back to GRTV News, I'm Alex, as always going through the afternoons latest and greatest when it comes to gaming, technology, entertainment, whatever you like and indeed whatever you love, we always have it here for you at GRTV News and in the wider Gamereactor network as a whole."

"Now this is something that you may not be aware of considering not a lot of buzz has been made about it, but it is coming out next year this movie.
With all the video game adaptations going around nowadays, it's quite easy to get lost in the tracks of one, but Helldivers 2 is actually moving forward, or I guess it'll just be called Helldivers, and with Jason Momoa leading the cast, or at least being the first person announced for the cast, we can sort of see the direction that this Sony movie is going to go in, and it seems like it's not going to be any overly serious adaptation of the Arrowhead multiplayer hit from 2024."

"We've known about this movie for quite some time, we know that Jason Momoa has been quite fond of appearing in video game adaptations as late as Ben Wright here, he was in a Minecraft movie.
He was, I believe, one of the first cast members, if not the first cast member, announced for a Minecraft movie, and yet he wasn't playing the lead role."

"I guess he kind of was in a way, because there was about 4 or 5 leads in that movie, but I guess you would say Jack Black playing Steve is probably the most influential character, so it is possible that he could be a Helldiver on a squad of 4, or he could be some sort of figure that is not necessarily within the main core of the film."

"We don't know who he's been cast as yet.
It's going to be directed by Fast and the Furious veteran Justin Lin, as we know.
No word on plot details, but if you know what Helldivers is about, you probably know that this is going to be essentially like a massive mission from hell for our squaddies, including probably Jason Momoa, with them likely being taken on bugs or bots, or any of the other factions in the game that players can fight against."

"I've not played since it was just bugs or bots, so forgive me for my lack of detail there.
However, as we know, as I say, there's a lot of stuff that this could really dive into.
It could be essentially a film that could primarily try and take on more of a Starship Troopers vibe, be a bit more serious with a slight edge of parody, but with Jason Momoa at the helm, considering the sort of comedy of a Minecraft movie, considering the fact that he's going to be playing Blanca in a Street Fighter film, which also looks like it's a bit tongue-in-cheek as well, we would imagine that this is not going to be too serious, which is probably really good, considering that most of Helldivers is as parodical as it can be, with things like John Helldiver and his constant requests for you to save the galaxy in the name of humanity."

"But yes, this drops on the 10th of November, 2027, and it'll probably have many more cast announcements between now and then, so we'll keep you updated with those.
