This microphone is designed to make professional-sounding audio simple and easy come by.
"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look.
We have a lot of experience with Shure products here at Gamereactor because we've used them professionally for our podcasts, for our trip to the field where we interview various important people from the gaming business and entertainment industries, and we quite enjoy them."
"It is not only just usability or design, it is also rugged durability and the quality of the audio that comes from these recordings.
So Shure is making a gaming microphone called the MV6 and we gladly said, sure, we'll take a look."
"Sure.
That's actually quite funny.
But the point is that it is a brand that we have a lot of intimate experience with and it is always interesting to see a manufacturer that have certain level of expertise in a particular field, try to extend that capability into other sort of close-lying branches."
"So is it the same?
Can Shure transfer their knowledge of this professional audio equipment to a more affordable gaming microphone?
Well, first and foremost, I think they nailed the design."
"Of course, these capsule microphones all look a little bit similar.
They're kind of meant to do that.
In some ways, the technology dictates the structure.
But I still think that this, with its overall sort of black metallic exterior fit with these green accent colorings here, it's both here on the capsule itself and here on the bottom, which will give a subtle glow to the desk around its placement."
"I think they've kind of nailed it here.
And if you remove the pop filter here, you can see that this green, and it's actually metal all the way through, by the way, no plastics here, is actually quite noticeable.
And I do think creates a sort of a harmonious overall exterior image for Shure."
"I really like that.
And obviously, you could see this both ways.
This is easily removable and therefore also probably easily replaceable.
But it's also just on the verge of being too easily removable."
"When we just unpacked it to bring it into the studio here, it actually just flew off when I was unboxing the microphone.
So I don't know if you could come across a situation where this would be removed during recording, but maybe some rubbering inside would help it stay on there."
"But still, again, easily replaceable as well, if it ends up tearing.
And there is a good amount of space, as you can see, between the sort of the outer exterior of the pop filter and where the actual capsule starts.
So there really should be a lot of protection to keep those Ps and Ss at an all-time low."
"This records between 15 hertz and 15 kilohertz.
It is slightly less than some of Shure's other microphones.
For instance, the next one up in that range will do 20 hertz to 20 kilohertz.
It has a maximum SPL of, I think, 128 decibels, which is actually slightly higher than the 120 decibels, again, of the next higher-up tier."
"Shure has been working on a bunch of different technologies to put into this in order to make it a smooth ride when you are using it.
So that is stuff like auto-level mode, which, for instance, will automatically adjust your gain based on your voice and what happens around you, which basically means that you shouldn't be fiddling as much with individual audio levels, or come across a show where you're streaming on Twitch and you find out that you've been peaking a lot during the entire recording."
"That shouldn't happen.
There's also something called a real-time noise denoiser, which basically means that there's an AI algorithm probably going in and cleaning up the audio as it comes through to make sure that there is as little noise in the background as humanly possible."
"They've also made something called the Moti Mix app, which lets you mix and add and adjust a lot of things in real time, which we'll be taking a look at.
But apart from that, I wouldn't hold it against you if you looked at this and saw a USB Type-C style gaming microphone like all of the others."
"And it is up to proper scrutiny when we actually test this to find out whether it has some new stuff that works differently than the majority of the competition right now.
So for much more on Shure's MB6 microphone, stay tuned to Game Ractor.
Bye."
